Grace Abbot was a major contributor to the end of child labor. She was born on Grande Island, Nebraska in 1878. She joined the department of labor and she reported issues pertaining to child welfare. She tried to come up with the first law to restrict child labor but it was shot down by the court in 1918. She led a campaign to end child labor later on and eventually, she set a precedent in the new deal that no child under 16 could work.
